Our Story

PeaceWorks began in the 1980s as a response to the illegal war in Nicaragua, orchestrated by the US government. The organization aimed to support Nicaraguan activists and organizations by sending humanitarian aid. Today, PeaceWorks continues to support grassroots organizations in Nicaragua that address human rights, poverty, and environmental issues, while also organizing fundraisers and educational events in New Jersey.
