Founded in 1998, Peaceable Kingdom began as a grassroots effort by volunteers who opened their homes to shelter abandoned cats. In 2002, a small building was leased, marking the transition to a dedicated shelter. By 2004, the organization expanded to include homeless dogs, significantly increasing its capacity to help animals in need.
Each year, Peaceable Kingdom spays/neuters over 2000 community pets and feral cats, while successfully adopting out between 800-1000 homeless animals into loving homes.
Peaceable Kingdom operates on a minimal budget, ensuring that every donation directly supports the care of animals. All contributions are tax-deductible, and the organization prioritizes community support to maintain low administrative costs.
