Paws Critter Crossing was founded in 1950 by Dwight and Darlene Uhter in Cook County, Illinois. What began as a small initiative to care for a few animals has blossomed into a sanctuary for nearly 100 permanent residents, including neglected and unwanted animals, as well as both indigenous and non-indigenous wildlife. In 1999, PCC became a non-profit organization dedicated to community outreach, education, and the rehabilitation of orphaned, injured, and displaced wildlife.
PCC provides a safe haven for injured or abandoned wildlife, offering essential veterinary care and rehabilitation services. The organization also serves as a sanctuary for farm animals and domesticated wildlife, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.
PCC relies entirely on public donations and volunteer support, receiving no government funding. Every donation is crucial for the care and necessities of the animals, with 100% of contributions going directly to their welfare.
