Partners In Adventure: A Journey Towards Inclusivity

Founded in 2000 by Deborah Lamden and Sue Minter, Partners In Adventure (PIA) emerged from a heartfelt need for inclusive recreational opportunities for teens with and without disabilities in northern Vermont. Over the years, PIA has grown from a two-week pilot program into a thriving 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, celebrating over 19 years of continuous operation.

PIA collaborates with over 20 community organizations to create a unique camp experience that fosters social connections among youth of all abilities. The program is designed to combat the isolation that many children with disabilities face as they enter their teenage years, providing them with the chance to engage in athletic and verbal activities that are essential for building relationships.

With a dedicated team of therapists, parents, and special educators, PIA tailors its programming to meet the diverse needs of each participant, ensuring that every young person can thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
