Founded in 2018, Participatory Budgeting Oregon emerged from a community forum aimed at introducing participatory budgeting (PB) to the Portland-metro area. Engaging with national experts and local leaders, the organization recognized the necessity for a statewide initiative dedicated to educating and supporting the implementation of PB. This initiative is rooted in the principles of equity, justice, and inclusion, addressing the racial and class barriers that hinder participatory democracy.

Our Impact

Since its inception, Participatory Budgeting Oregon has successfully raised over $5 million in public funds, empowering communities to allocate resources through participatory budgeting processes.
