About the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra
Founded in 1966 by William Whitson, the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra (PACO) began in a living room, nurturing young string players through small ensemble performances. Over the years, PACO has evolved into a renowned collective of five strings-only chamber orchestras, attracting talented musicians from grades 3 to 12 across the Bay Area. The organization has expanded its repertoire from Baroque music to masterworks from all periods, emphasizing musical excellence and education.
Impact of PACO
PACO cultivates a lifelong appreciation for chamber music in young people while fostering essential human relationships. The organization significantly impacts the community by providing quality music education, performance opportunities, and outreach initiatives that extend beyond local borders.
Why Donate to PACO?
Your donations are vital for supporting essential programming costs that student tuition alone cannot cover. Contributions help fund excellent teaching staff, individualized instruction, concerts, guest artists, and innovative new programs under the direction of Music Director Scott Krijnen.
