Western Ballet

Our Story

Founded in 1976 by Richard Gibson, Western Ballet has become a cornerstone of ballet education in Silicon Valley. Under the guidance of artistic leaders like Alessandra Di Pierro and Mark Foehringer, the school has flourished, and current director Alexi Zubiria has expanded its mission to include scholarships and financial aid, ensuring that ballet is accessible to everyone.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Western Ballet is dedicated to making classical ballet performances and education affordable for all, especially low-income families and underrepresented communities.
