Our Story

Founded in 1989 as Books for Kids, Page Ahead Children's Literacy Program began as a grassroots book drive by six friends. Over the years, it has evolved into a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on providing access to books for children in historically marginalized communities. In 2001, the organization rebranded to Page Ahead and expanded its mission to include comprehensive literacy programs, workshops, and engaging classroom story times.

Impact

With over 4 million books distributed and 1 million children served, Page Ahead has made a significant impact on literacy rates among disadvantaged communities in Washington State. Programs like Book Up Summer and Story Leaders have been recognized for their effectiveness in promoting literacy and educational equity.
