Our Story

Founded in 1999 by Patricia Huerta, Padres Unidos emerged from the challenges of homelessness and food insecurity. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to fostering self-sufficiency and responsibility among families, believing that successful families build successful communities. Each year, it serves over 4,500 children, parents, and caregivers in Orange County, focusing on community engagement and support for low-income families, including those with incarcerated youth.

Impact

Padres Unidos has achieved remarkable outcomes, including a 52% reduction in recidivism rates among youth involved in their programs. Additionally, 100% of school principals report improved test scores and attendance among participants, while 99% of child participants in early education programs show increased scores.
