Our Story

Established in 1987, the Padilla Bay Foundation emerged from a small group of dedicated volunteers committed to preserving the unique ecosystem of Padilla Bay. This vital area, recognized for its extensive eelgrass beds, became part of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System in 1980. Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its reach, mobilizing community support and resources to enhance the Reserve's educational and conservation efforts.

Impact

Since its inception, the Foundation has successfully raised over $665,000, directly benefiting Reserve programs and construction projects. More than 10,000 students and community members have accessed free educational experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.
