Our Story

Founded in 1989 by Lawrence Kohl and Charles Old, the Pacific Chamber Orchestra (PCO) has captivated audiences with its rich tonal quality and artistic flair. From its first performance in San Leandro’s United Methodist Church to over 450 concerts, PCO has introduced classical music to more than 300,000 elementary school students. The organization has adapted to challenges over the years, relocating to Livermore in 2005 and becoming a resident company of the Bankhead Theater. PCO continues to thrive, performing critically acclaimed concerts across various cities.

Impact

PCO musicians are not only performers but also educators and recording artists, having played with prestigious ensembles like the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera. The orchestra's season includes four main concerts, the Dream American Emerging Composers program, and extensive educational initiatives that inspire the next generation of musicians.
