Our Story

PACEM was founded in 2004 by the Downtown Ministerial Alliance to address the urgent need for shelter for homeless individuals in Charlottesville, VA. This grassroots initiative has grown significantly, now serving over 200 adults each winter with essential shelter, meals, and case management services.

Impact

Since its inception, PACEM has provided over 192,000 bed nights of shelter, assisting more than 1,700 individuals in need. The organization has adapted its services to meet the evolving needs of the community, including specialized support for vulnerable populations during the pandemic.
