¡Oye! Group was founded in 2012 by Modesto ‘Flako’ Jimenez and Kevin Torres to create a vibrant platform for Black and Latine individuals in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Initially starting with poetry readings and festivals, the organization has expanded its offerings to include a variety of programs that support emerging artists and engage the community.
For over a decade, ¡Oye! Group has been dedicated to fostering artistic talent and building connections within the community. The organization provides free workshops, youth theater programs, and annual festivals that amplify new voices and support Black and Latine communities.
