About Overland Mountain Bike Association

Founded in the mid-1990s, Overland Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) began as the Diamond Peaks Mountain Bike Patrol, a dedicated group of mountain bikers in Fort Collins, Colorado. Initially a sister organization to the Diamond Peaks Ski Patrol, OMBA has evolved into a comprehensive mountain biking organization that advocates for sustainable trails and community engagement.

Our Journey

In 1997, OMBA played a pivotal role in organizing the first Friends of Lory Trail Day, a community event aimed at restoring trails damaged by severe weather. This annual event has since attracted numerous participants, including mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians, fostering a love for the outdoors.

With the support of New Belgium Brewing Company, OMBA has expanded its reach and capabilities, allowing for the purchase of essential equipment and training for members. Over the years, OMBA has established partnerships with various land agencies, including the United States Forest Service and Larimer County, enhancing its ability to maintain and advocate for local trails.

Community Impact

In 2022 alone, OMBA members dedicated approximately 10,000 volunteer hours, valued at around $350,000, to support local trails and community projects. This commitment underscores the organization's dedication to promoting mountain biking and ensuring a sustainable experience for all trail users.
