Our Story

Out for Education began its journey in 1998, when PFLAG-Houston and the Houston Area Teen Coalition of Homosexuals (H.A.T.C.H.) united to uplift LGBTQ+ youth in Houston. This powerful alliance led to the creation of the PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation in 1999. In 2013, the organization rebranded as Out for Education, reflecting its unwavering dedication to education and the LGBTQ+ community.

Impact

Today, Out for Education is one of the most successful LGBTQ+ scholarship-granting foundations in Texas and the United States. Over 400 scholarships totaling more than $2 million have been awarded, profoundly impacting countless LGBTQ+ lives and nurturing a brighter future for the community.
