Founded by the Orange City Vice Mayor, Backpack Buddies was created to combat food insecurity among children in West Volusia schools. The Covid-19 pandemic heightened the need for assistance, prompting the organization to expand its reach to entire families. Today, Backpack Buddies is a trusted name in the community, providing essential food support to those in need.

Backpack Buddies distributes over 20,000 pounds of food each month, ensuring that school-aged children and their families have access to nutritious meals. This vital support allows children to focus on their education without the burden of hunger.
