Our Community Cares Camp: A Lifeline for Local Children

Founded in 2009, Our Community Cares Camp (OCCC) has its roots in a summer food program initiated by the Mission Committee of the Richmond Congregational Church over 15 years ago. OCCC proudly continues the mission of feeding local children and providing a safe, nurturing environment during the summer months. In partnership with the Vermont Agency of Education Child Nutrition Program and the Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District, OCCC addresses the needs of communities where 1 in 4 children face food insecurity and lack access to enriching summer activities.

Impacting Lives Through Food and Fun

Throughout July, OCCC offers campers a blend of nutritious meals and engaging activities, ensuring that children are not only fed but also stimulated. With guidance from caring adults, campers explore creative pursuits while teens gain valuable leadership experience as junior counselors and culinary interns. OCCC serves as a vital resource for families facing economic and social challenges, helping to bridge the gap in opportunities for youth.
