Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles: A Community Hub for Change

Founded in March 2020 by Yossi and Chaya Segelman, Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles was inspired by the original Our Big Kitchen in Sydney, Australia. What began as packing snack boxes in a garage has transformed into a vibrant community hub where thousands of volunteers unite to prepare and distribute high-quality meals to those in need. Operating from a kosher industrial kitchen, the organization emphasizes dignity and joy for all participants.

Impacting Lives Through Nourishment

In the past year, OBKLA has held 235 cooking sessions, engaged over 13,000 volunteers, and provided meals for 70,000 individuals. With over 27,000 meals served annually and 10,912 volunteer hours logged, the kitchen has prepped an impressive 24,240 pounds of food.
