The Oshkosh Yacht Club, established in 1869, has a rich history of fostering sailing competition on Lake Winnebago. Over the years, it has transformed into a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sailing among youth and preserving Oshkosh's sailing heritage. Despite challenges, including the loss of its clubhouse, the club successfully restored its original building, now known as 'The Waters,' in 2008, creating a welcoming space for the community.
Over the past 25 years, more than 700 youth sailors have participated in the OYC Sailing School, gaining essential skills in water safety, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. The club is committed to making sailing accessible to all socio-economic levels in the Oshkosh area.
