Our Story

The Oscar Grant Foundation was established in 2010 in response to the tragic shooting of Oscar Grant by a BART police officer. Led by Oscar's mother, Wanda Johnson, the foundation aims to bridge the gap between predominantly Black communities and law enforcement. Through innovative programs, the foundation fosters self-esteem and encourages 'at-promise' youth to view themselves and others as full of potential.

Our Impact

Since 2014, the foundation has awarded $100,000 in scholarships to Black youth, empowering them to pursue higher education and transform their futures.
