Our Story
Founded in 2019, Orquesta Northwest is the result of merging three impactful programs: Young Strings Outreach, Ballard Civic Orchestra, and Cascade Conducting. Young Strings Outreach, initiated in 2006, provides underprivileged youth with free instruction on classical string instruments. The World Youth Orchestra, led by Artistic Director Paula Madrigal, offers free musical education and instruments to youth ages 6-19. The Ballard Civic Orchestra, established in 2015, emphasizes Latino culture while providing performance opportunities for adult musicians. Cascade Conducting, created in 2017, balances conducting demands with individual musicianship. Together, these programs enhance community life through diverse and inclusive classical music initiatives.
