Our Story

The Oregon Primary Care Association (OPCA) was established in 1984 by a coalition of safety net clinics and the Oregon Office of Health Policy. This initiative aimed to create a community-centered approach to health care, addressing the needs of Oregonians who struggled to access affordable care. Today, OPCA supports over 270 health centers across the state, providing integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health services to the most vulnerable populations.

Impact

OPCA plays a crucial role in navigating state and federal policies, facilitating peer learning, and supporting workforce development. With over 457,000 Oregonians receiving care at community health centers, OPCA is dedicated to promoting health equity and transforming the health system to better serve those in need.
