In January 2014, a dream took flight, inspired by faith and a vision to create a unique event for special needs individuals. The Orange County Special Angels Rodeo began as a heartfelt initiative to provide a day of joy, inclusion, and celebration for those with disabilities. Guided by a strong belief that everyone deserves a chance to shine, this event has blossomed into a cherished tradition in Southeast Texas.

Our Journey

The inaugural rodeo welcomed nearly 100 participants from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, held at the Orange County Sheriff’s Posse Arena. With modified rodeo events, carnival games, and delicious food, the day was filled with laughter and joy. Thanks to generous donations, the event exceeded fundraising goals, allowing the organization to support other local initiatives and schools.

As the years progressed, the rodeo grew exponentially. By the second year, the event moved to the T2 Arena and Event Center, accommodating around 300 participants and 297 volunteers. New activities, including a petting zoo, were introduced, and every attendee enjoyed a complimentary meal. The last rodeo before the pandemic in 2019 hosted nearly 350 participants and over 500 volunteers, showcasing the community's commitment to inclusivity.

The event fosters a sense of belonging and joy, ensuring that everyone feels valued and celebrated. The organization continues to strive for excellence, aiming to touch even more lives with each passing year.
