Our Story

Opportunity Workshop of Lexington, Inc. (OWL) was founded in 1961 by a group of dedicated parents aiming to help their disabled children achieve self-sufficiency. With initial support from the Junior League of Lexington, OWL began its journey in a modest 3,500 square foot warehouse. Today, OWL operates from four expansive facilities on Kennedy Road, encompassing over 74,000 square feet dedicated to vocational rehabilitation and job placement.

Impacting Lives

Over the years, OWL has transformed the lives of more than 17,000 individuals across Central Kentucky. With services extending to all seventeen counties in the Bluegrass Area Development District and Jefferson County, OWL has successfully placed over 2,750 individuals in meaningful employment. The commitment of over 250 community leaders on our volunteer board and a dedicated team of professionals has been crucial to this success.
