About Operation Turkey

For over 24 years, Operation Turkey has been a beacon of hope for those in need, driven entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. Founded in 2000 by Richard Bagdonas, the organization began with a simple act of kindness: sharing a Thanksgiving meal with a homeless man. This small gesture sparked a movement that has grown to include over 50,000 volunteers across multiple states, delivering warm meals to the homeless and less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day.

Our Impact

Operation Turkey has made a significant impact, delivering over 62,000 meals in 2019 alone, and adapting to challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing more than 75,000 meals in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, the organization returned to its normal operations, serving over 50,000 meals. Each meal represents not just food, but compassion and community support.
