Our Story
Founded in 1999 by Peter Yarrow of the legendary folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary, and Dr. Charlotte Frank, Operation Respect was inspired by a heartfelt moment between father and daughter. The song "Don’t Laugh at Me" sparked a movement aimed at creating safer, more respectful environments for children and youth through social-emotional learning.
Our Impact
Since its inception, Operation Respect has distributed over 200,000 copies of the "Don’t Laugh at Me" curriculum, translated into multiple languages and utilized in countless classrooms and camps. The organization has reached over 500,000 educators and community members worldwide, fostering caring learning environments and promoting essential social-emotional skills.
