Our Story

Operation Open Arms is a dedicated charity founded in 2005 by Captain John "GiddyUp" Bunch, aimed at providing essential support and services to U.S. service members on combat leave. What began as a single fishing trip for a soldier has blossomed into a robust network of over 150 local businesses offering free services and amenities to active duty troops and their families visiting Southwest Florida.

Impact

Since its inception, Operation Open Arms has positively impacted the lives of over 1,900 U.S. troops and their families, providing free vacations and support services such as fishing charters, lodging, and recreational activities. This initiative significantly enhances the quality of life for service members during their leave.
