Our Story

Founded in 2001 by three visionary women, the Open Windows Foundation began as a small learning center, Asociación Ventanas Abiertas, in the childhood home of co-founder Teresa Quiñonez in San Miguel Dueñas. Initially serving just 20 primary school children with a modest collection of 300 donated books, the foundation has grown significantly over the years. Today, it offers a comprehensive educational experience, including an after-school program, a library, a computer lab, and a scholarship program. Additionally, the foundation has made a tangible impact by building houses and installing eco-stoves for families in need. In response to the pandemic, a YouTube channel was launched to provide online education, ensuring that learning continues despite challenges.

Impact

Over the years, the Open Windows Foundation has positively impacted the lives of thousands of children and families in Dueñas and surrounding communities, improving living conditions and providing pathways out of poverty.
