Open Table Ministry was founded in 2009, rooted in a mission to support individuals experiencing homelessness. The journey began on the roadside at 15-501, where a simple lunch was served to those in need. The name "Open Table Ministry" reflects the core belief that everyone is welcome at our table, fostering solidarity, inclusion, and community.

Now located in downtown Durham at Trinity UMC, Open Table Ministry serves over 250 individuals each month, offering food, clothing, holistic support, and a sense of belonging. The commitment to stability and wholeness drives the efforts to create a welcoming environment for all.

Impact in 2023

In 2023, Open Table Ministry provided ongoing case management for 111 neighbors, distributed over 27,000 items through our Free Store, and offered 1,843 nights of emergency shelter to 85 adults and 83 children.
