Open Paths Counseling Center
EIN: 95-3221061 · Inglewood, CA
Our Story
Founded in 1975 by visionary marriage and family therapists alongside dedicated probation officers, Open Paths Counseling Center emerged from a profound need for low-cost counseling services in Los Angeles. Initially operating from a charming Victorian house, the organization became a nonprofit in 1979 and began training pre-licensed psychotherapists in the early 1980s. Over the decades, it has expanded its offerings to include vital programs addressing intimate partner abuse, HIV/AIDS support, and therapy in schools, adapting to the evolving needs of the community, including a successful transition to remote services during the pandemic.
Impact
Open Paths Counseling Center serves between 1,000 and 1,200 unique clients annually, delivering affordable, culturally-affirming, trauma-informed psychotherapy to underserved communities in Los Angeles.
