Our Story

For over 50 years, OPEN M Foundation has been a beacon of faith, health, and hope in Akron and Summit County. Established in 1968 during a time of significant social challenges, four churches united to create a ministry dedicated to serving the community from a humble house on Princeton Street. This grassroots effort laid the foundation for a nonprofit that prioritizes the needs of the people it serves. Today, OPEN M operates from a spacious facility, assisting over 67,000 individuals annually through the dedication of volunteers and community partners.

Our Impact

OPEN M has made a significant difference in the lives of many. The pharmacy has dispensed 30-day prescriptions valued at $574,210, while 900,000 pounds of food worth over $1.5 million have been distributed to more than 65,000 participants. Employment Services have supported 223 individuals through job-seeking and mentoring programs, and 581 children received gifts and essentials during the holiday season.
