Our Story

Open Aid Alliance, formerly known as the Missoula AIDS Council, was founded in 1986 by dedicated caregivers advocating for the immediate needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Over the years, the organization has evolved to address the ongoing needs of those affected by HIV while combating the stigma associated with the disease. Open Aid Alliance provides a safe space and essential resources for individuals to initiate positive change without judgment or fear of prosecution.

Impact

Each year, Open Aid Alliance serves approximately 2,600 individuals, with a significant increase in the number of unhoused individuals seeking services, rising from 25% in 2019 to 80% today. The organization actively removes barriers to care through various outreach and support services, ensuring that community members can access vital health services.
