Founded in 2009 by Mike Slayden, Off The Front emerged from a deep concern for the youth of Fresno, California. Recognizing the alarming rates of concentrated poverty, low educational performance, and rising childhood obesity, Mike was inspired to take action. The name 'Off The Front' symbolizes the organization's mission to lead the way in creating opportunities for children to thrive.

Since its inception, Off The Front has developed three impactful programs aimed at supporting students in under-resourced communities. By focusing on goal setting and providing essential resources, the organization empowers children to overcome barriers in education and health. Partnering with schools like Susan B. Anthony, Off The Front has expanded its reach to over 16 schools, fostering a culture of achievement and wellness.

Making a Significant Impact

With the launch of the Earn A Bike Program, Off The Front has transformed the lives of thousands of K-6th grade students. Participants have registered an impressive 390,000 trips to school, collectively covering over 417,000 miles and burning 16.4 million calories through the Active Commute Program.
