About ODC
Founded in 1971 by Artistic Director Brenda Way, ODC originated as the Oberlin Dance Collective in Ohio. Relocating to San Francisco in 1976, ODC established a vibrant urban dance environment. Known for its entrepreneurial spirit, ODC became the first modern dance company in the U.S. to own its facility, the ODC Theater, built in 1979. In 2005, ODC expanded with the ODC Dance Commons, which encompasses the dance company, school, and health clinic.
