Our Story

In the early 1990s, a dedicated group from Oakdale Park CRC came together to learn from the Christian Community Development Association. Motivated by the challenges faced by families in their community, they officially launched Oakdale Neighbors in 1996. Founded as a non-religious organization, Oakdale Neighbors aimed to build trust and foster collaboration within the community. Through mentoring and community engagement initiatives, the organization has made significant strides in helping neighbors overcome obstacles to health and success. Notably, it established one of the first Individual Development Account programs in the nation, empowering individuals to save for significant life investments.
