Founded in 1974 by a passionate group of local artists, the Oak Park Area Arts Council has been a cornerstone of the arts community in Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park. Originally known as the Civic Arts Council of Oak Park, the organization gained nonprofit status in 1976 and has since expanded its reach and services. With programs like the youth arts employment initiative Off the Wall, the Community Mini Mural program, and the Fine Arts Scholarship program, OPAAC is dedicated to enriching the lives of residents through the arts.
