Our Story

In the late 1950s, Reverend Richard Flinn envisioned a school that would combine rigorous academics with strong moral values. His dream became a reality in 1962 when the Children’s School opened in the basement of Carrollton Presbyterian Church. With the support of local businessmen Roy Richards, Sr. and Lynn W. Holmes, Oak Mountain Academy was established, welcoming 50 students in a renovated house and cottage.

Since then, Oak Mountain Academy has grown significantly, now serving approximately 200 students from PreK-3 through 12th grade. The school moved to its current location in 1997 and has since been fully accredited by SAIS and SACS/AdvancED, with memberships in NAIS, GISA, and GICAA. The Academy is dedicated to nurturing confident leaders who are inspired to serve their communities.

Impact

Oak Mountain Academy graduates are well-equipped for success, boasting a 100% college acceptance rate. Over the last five years, students have received more than $10.5 million in scholarship offers, with an average class size of just 12 students. This commitment to academic excellence ensures that students are prepared for college and beyond.
