Our Story
The New York City Parks Mounted Auxiliary Unit, Inc. was established in 1996 by a dedicated group of New Yorkers who sought to improve park safety through horseback patrols. What began as a few volunteers riding through Central Park has evolved into a robust unit of approximately 50 members patrolling parks across all five boroughs. These committed individuals work alongside the New York City Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) Mounted Officers to deter and address illegal activities, ensuring a safer environment for all park visitors.
