Our Story

Founded in 2016, Now Serving emerged from the success of The Sunday Supper, which was created to aid families and businesses affected by Hurricane Matthew. The inaugural event, recognized as the PRSA Nonprofit Event of the Year, brought together 1,000 individuals on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, raising $189,000 for the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund. Since then, Now Serving has harnessed the power of food to unite civic leaders, community organizers, and compassionate citizens in Raleigh, Durham, and Charlottesville, adapting its model to directly support the most vulnerable populations.

Our Impact

In North Carolina, 14% of residents face food insecurity daily. Now Serving addresses this urgent need by providing fresh, culturally-sensitive meals, while also supporting local restaurants that have struggled since the pandemic. By partnering with community agencies, Now Serving ensures that those in need receive nutritious meals tailored to their preferences.
