Our Story
Founded in 1883, Northwestern Medical Center has a rich history rooted in community support and healthcare excellence. The original St. Albans Hospital was established through the generosity of Chauncey Warner, and despite facing challenges such as a devastating fire in 1888, the hospital was rebuilt and continued to serve the community. Over the years, the hospital evolved, merging with the Kerbs Memorial Hospital in 1978 to form Northwestern Medical Center. This merger allowed for enhanced services and a commitment to meeting the changing healthcare needs of the community.
Today, NMC stands as a beacon of health in St. Albans, offering a range of services from emergency care to specialized medical treatments. The facility has undergone numerous expansions and renovations, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of medical technology and patient care. With a focus on community involvement, NMC has extended its reach beyond the hospital, providing essential healthcare services throughout the region.
