Encore Music Academy, formerly known as Northwest Community Music Academy, has been a beacon of hope and creativity in Crystal Lake, Illinois, since its inception. The journey began with the Northwest Community Youth Choir (NCYC), a vibrant group of 106 young singers aged 7-18, who first took the stage in February 2006. Performing to sold-out audiences, NCYC quickly became a cornerstone of the community, especially as local schools began to cut music programs.

In response to the growing need for music education, Encore Music Academy expanded its offerings to include Summer Musical, Summer Camp Encore, Private Instruction, and Early Childhood classes. With a commitment to accessibility, the academy has provided a nurturing environment for students of all ages and abilities, ensuring that music remains an integral part of their lives.

In 2015, Encore Music Academy moved to a larger facility at 800 McHenry Avenue, which allowed for a 50% increase in enrollment for private lessons and group classes within just one year. The academy continued to grow, welcoming the McHenry County Youth Orchestra (MCYO) and Voices In Harmony into its family in 2019, further enriching the community's musical landscape.

Today, Encore Music Academy serves over 2,200 students annually through 25+ ensembles, including the only community youth orchestra in McHenry County. The academy's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its diverse programs, which cater to students from 23 communities and over 50 schools. With a focus on early childhood music education and adaptive lessons for individuals with disabilities, Encore Music Academy truly believes that "Music is for Life."

Despite the high demand for its programs, tuition only covers 70% of the total costs for each musician.
