Our Story
The Northwest Arkansas African American Heritage Association Inc, co-founded in 2008 by Melba Lene Smith and Sharon Killian, is dedicated to addressing the inequalities faced by Black communities in Northwest Arkansas. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focuses on preserving, documenting, and promoting the rich heritage and culture of Black individuals in the region.
Impact
NWA Black Heritage is actively working to create the largest Black historic district in Fayetteville, engaging youth and collaborating with various organizations to celebrate and empower Black heritage.
