About Northfield Union of Youth
Founded in 1993, Northfield Union of Youth (NUY) has been a beacon of hope for the youth of Northfield, Minnesota. The organization opened its first youth center, known as "The Key," in December 1995, inspired by the vision of Lindsay Key Perkins, a dedicated student who tragically passed away before its opening. Governed by a Youth Board, The Key continues to provide a safe, substance-free environment where youth can thrive, engage, and lead.
Impact of NUY
In 2023, The Key Youth Center welcomed 5,873 visits from nearly 400 youth, offering vital support and leadership opportunities. With 2,300 discussions between youth and trusted adults, NUY has made a significant impact on the community, ensuring that 12 youth facing housing instability found safe accommodations for over 140 nights.
