Our Story
Founded in 1985, the Northeast Waste Management Officials Association (NEWMOA) emerged from a collaborative effort among directors of waste programs across New England. Initially supported by the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission, NEWMOA gained formal recognition from the U.S. EPA in 1986. Over the years, the organization expanded its reach, welcoming New Jersey and New York into its fold, and evolving its mission to address the pressing waste management challenges of the Northeast.
