Our Story

Northeast Tennessee Avian Rescue and Rehabilitation (NETARR) was founded in 2017 by Joel and Leigh Furman, who operate the sanctuary from their home. With a commitment to providing shelter for over 80 birds, including finches, macaws, and toucans, NETARR addresses the urgent need for parrot sanctuaries in the community.

Our Impact

NETARR has successfully rescued numerous birds, offering them shelter, care, and rehabilitation. The organization focuses on educating the public about responsible parrot ownership, aiming to reduce the number of birds that end up in rescues due to neglect or abandonment.
