Our Story

Bienvenidos Food Bank, established in 1976, began as an outreach program of the St. Patrick Action Center to support struggling families in Northwest Denver. Under the leadership of neighborhood activist Ellen Torres, the program flourished, eventually merging with the Northwest Family Assistance Center in 1998. Even after Ellen's passing in 2001, dedicated volunteers have continued to ensure that the mission of providing food assistance in a safe and welcoming environment thrives.

Impact

In 2022, Bienvenidos served 25,000 residents of Metro Denver, marking a 29% increase in demand for food assistance. Over 450,000 pounds of food were distributed, equating to more than 400,000 meals valued at nearly $800,000.
