Empowering Local Farmers and Strengthening the Economy

The North Shore Economic Vitality Partnership (North Shore EVP) was established in 2015 to address the economic challenges faced by local farmers in Hawaii. Through a comprehensive community-based economic analysis, North Shore EVP identified agriculture and tourism as the region's primary economic drivers. The organization initiated its first project by developing a regional food hub facility aimed at purchasing produce from small farms, aggregating, packing, marketing, and distributing these products to larger commercial and institutional customers. This initiative opens new market opportunities for local farmers, ensuring their sustainability and growth.

Impact on the Community

North Shore EVP has successfully implemented the state’s only USDA GroupGAP food safety training and certification program, enabling farmers to achieve Harmonized GAP certification. Currently, North Shore EVP is responsible for 12% of certified farms on Oahu, facilitating access to stable markets for local farmers.
