Our Story
The North Manitou Shoal Light Station, completed in 1935, stands as a historic beacon in Northern Lake Michigan. Originally operated by the United States Lighthouse Service and later the Coast Guard, this lighthouse was manned until 1980. Recognized for its historical significance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. After being deemed surplus by the Federal Government, the North Manitou Light Keepers acquired it in 2016, committing to its restoration and preservation.
