Our Story

Founded in 1989 by Scott Wilson and dedicated volunteers, North East Trees began with a simple mission: to plant oaks on Fiji Hill. Officially incorporated in 1991, this organization has become a cornerstone of urban greening efforts in Los Angeles, focusing on enhancing parks along the Los Angeles River. With a commitment to planting five trees a day, North East Trees empowers community members to create green spaces, preserve urban habitats, and promote native vegetation.

Impact

In 2023 alone, North East Trees planted and distributed 4,726 trees and stewarded 136 acres of native habitat, engaging 4,540 volunteer hours. This showcases the significant impact on urban greening in Los Angeles.
