Our Story

The North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA) has been the voice of music education in North Carolina since 1970. This organization is dedicated to advancing music education by promoting the understanding and making of music by all. NCMEA hosts the largest musical professional development conference and student activities in the state, providing essential resources for teachers, parents, and administrators while advocating for music education at local, state, and national levels.

Impact

NCMEA's efforts have led to recognition for three North Carolina school districts and one school by The NAMM Foundation for their commitment to music education. Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Chatham County Schools, and Guilford County Schools have been honored as Best Communities for Music Education, while Cuthbertson High School received the SupportMusic Merit Award.
